You might even consider getting out on the passenger side of the car. This is a better option because it’s safer and there’s less risk of getting struck by passing traffic.
You need to call for help. If you have a cell phone or other means of communicating with other people, use them. Make sure that you provide them your exact location. You can try giving them a landmark or the mile marker.
While you’re waiting for help, it would be a good idea to stay inside your car. Stay inside. Until help arrives, lock your doors and roll up your windows.
