New Zealand Honeymoon Tips & Advice
A New Zealand honeymoon takes a lightly simmering cauldron of love and lights a massive wildfire under it. It could be something about the rawness and the haunting beauty of New Zealand’s untouched and lightly populated landscape. It could also have a little to do with the urban fun in cities like Queenstown and Auckland.
The country is made up two big islands called North Island and South Island, with a few more small islands dotting the landscape. Both sides compete for attention with famed things to do like whale watching and eco-tours, and attractions like the stunningly beautiful Milford Sound and 14 parks full of New Zealand’s small five (tuatara, hector’s dolphin, kiwi, the yellow-eyed dolphin and the kea).
As far as weddings and honeymoons in New Zealand are concerned, let’s just say that there’s no shortage of romance packages and wedding planners. Auckland has the finest restaurants for romantic candle-light dinners. The cuisine acts as an aphrodisiac and fans the flames of passion.
Resorts and hotels are just as adept at adding more kindling, with hot tubs and massages, flowers and champagne. The honeymoon suites are kept ready and staff will tiptoe around to offer guests complete privacy. Many hotels also have a wedding planner, in case the plan includes a wedding.
Yet another thing that attracts couples to New Zealand is Rotorua, with its volcanic landscape and Lord of the Rings tours. There are geysers going pop all over the place, and mud baths bubble up alongside natural hot springs. Whether it’s the chemicals in the air or the impact of a direct connection to mother earth’s underbelly, the end result is that it forces couples into a close bond that overpowers the senses.
Also to be noted that as the last known discovery of uncharted land, New Zealand is often referred to as the youngest country in the world. Practically speaking, it means they haven’t yet had enough time to turn the country into an urban mess. For those used to living in a city, the beauty of something untouched by man cannot be described, and this is what makes a New Zealand honeymoon a very real dream.
