Whether you like to surf, kayak or just whatever, the mild temps and the warm ocean water will welcome you.
If you want to learn to surf, then you should start on Waikiki if you are a beginner. If you want to see some professionals in action then head out to the north shore, where they surf on 30 foot waves which is not uncommon. It is definitely not for beginners though, leave the surfing the 30 foot waves to the professionals. You will not want to even try it, but it is fun to watch.
So if surfing is not your thing, then you should try your game at snorkeling, divign and kayaking. Each one of these activities is really big on Hawaii and you will not find any problem getting someone to teach you how to do it, if you pay for it of course. Hawaii has all kinds of water sports for you to enjoy. If you are not an avid surfer, then try to kayak, it can be a little intimidating at first but once you get a hang of it, it is a lot of fun and very enjoyable.
