City Break In Berlin
Compared to some of Europe’s more illustrious holiday destinations, Berlin is perhaps not preferred much for city breaks. But if you do go for a city break in Berlin, you will be pleasantly surprised at what the German city has to offer.
Museums, castles, gardens and modern city attractions- Berlin has got it all. Moreover, Berlin has some of the most luxurious yet affordable hotels in Europe. So, accommodation within the city itself is not a problem.
You can soak up the sights and sounds of this capital city with a trek on foot or an open top bus ride. These bus rides are guided tours which can be perfect if you don’t have much time to explore the surroundings by yourself.
Among some of the popular attractions is the Reichstag with its beautiful glass dome, the zoological gardens, the Berlin TV tower, the Pergamon museum, the Charlottenburg palace and gardens, the Brandenburg gate and the new National gallery.
Then there is the site of the Berlin Wall and old Checkpoint Charlie, which now has a museum and a viewing platform.
But if these important landmarks don’t get you going, you can always dive into the bustling nightlife of the city. A city break in Berlin would also not be complete without a visit to one of numerous theaters and comedy clubs.
Traveling around on your own is very easy, thanks to the efficient and affordable underground railway system known as the u-bahn. If you are in the city during the weekend, make sure to spend an afternoon visiting Mauerpark which has a bustling flea market.
Berlin, like most of Germany is still trying to rebuild its image post World War II. The people are hard working, honest and yet are really warm towards tourists. A city break in Berlin will help you understand that!
