Many would envy those who could take a trip to Sydney–the capital city of Australia. It’s a lively place full of business, money, fish, and beautiful buildings. And yet, all the hotels are so expensive! Most hotels in Sydney cost from five-hundred to a eighty dollars–way too much for an average vacationer. So where are the cheapest hotels in Sydney?
There are, however, a few businesses who are there to help–not even asking sixty dollars a night. These nice, affordable rooms vary from regular hotel rooms with two queen beds, to small multi-share rooms for backpackers. They have two things in common: It’s a place to stay, and the price is reasonable.
Now here’s a list of every one of these great hotels with their details.
Number one and the most expensive of these, is the historical Sydney Central Hotel located on Wentworth Avenue. Several attractions are nearby, like the Capitol Theater, Australian Museum, Sydney Entertainment, and the ANZAC War memorial. The classic Town Hall is just down the road, like the Chinese Garden of Friendship.
This hotel offers great rooms and facilities, every room having internet, cable TV, a tea/coffee maker, and a refrigerator. It even has a common kitchen for guests to prepare their meals in! It also has laundry facilities–important for long stays. And all this, for only fifty-eight dollars a night. A deal, right?
Next is the beautiful, cheaper Y Hotel Hyde Park, which sits on the Whitlam Square. Many tourist places are close by, some mentioned previously. A few others are the St. Mary’s Cathedral–one of the largest churches in the world–and the Pitt Street Mall, Rocks, Sydney Tower, and Opera House.
The facilities at this hotel are great–the rooms have wireless internet, a microwave, refrigerator, tea/coffee maker, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, telephone, and even a safe. They have a photocopier and a fax machine to use, as well as laundry facilities and a cafe. This lovely hotel gives all this for just thirty-six dollars each night.
Next is the Sydney Central Hostel, which is located on Pitt Street, and is near the Powerhouse Museum and the Queen Victoria Building, as well as many of the tourist attractions mentioned above. It’s also close to a lot of Sydney’s famous restaurants, cafes, and clubs.
Many types of rooms are available here–double rooms, single rooms, even triple rooms. The rooms themselves have flat screen TVs, refrigerators, and internet access in them. There’s even a bar in this hotel! The price? Only thirty-five dollars.
Now move on to the Maze Backpackers Hotel, another place on Pitt Street. As mentioned above, there are many tourist attractions nearby. The facilities in this hotel are rather standard, although they do have an fully equipped common kitchen. The rooms have TVs, irons with ironing boards, and hairdryers. The cost is a nice thirty-five dollars a day.
The fifth hotel is the Base Backpackers Hotel. Located on Kent Street, it is, naturally, close to quite a few of the places already mentioned. But it is also near the IMAX Theater, Pyrmont Bridge, and the Sydney Aquarium, which is one of the biggest aquariums in the world.
Although they only offer spacious multi-share dorms here with private bathrooms, they do have a nice lounge bar, and internet corner. It’s a nice place to sleep if someone is by themselves and don’t have a lot of money–it only costs twenty-eight dollars a day.
