A Short Review Of The Cincinnati Zoo And Holiday Inn Cincinnati
The world famous Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden is the second oldest intentionally built zoo in the United States. It was built fourteen months after the Philadelphia Zoo, in 1875. It was built originally on 65 acres in the middle of the city and has since acquired more lands around it. This zoo was started with just twenty-six creatures plus over four hundred birds.
Soon it will be home to more wildlife. When the eight acre Africa Savannah is completed, animals such as Maasai Giraffes, leopards, hippos and zebras will make their home there. Many more species will be located there as well. It will be just as if you are on the continent of Africa, but much safer for you.
The zoo is now home to 27 animal exhibits, with exhibits such as insects, elephants, wolves, fowl of all kinds and reptiles, to name but a few. Soon-to-be-finished is the African Savannah and Night Hunters exhibit. The Night Hunters exhibit will merge the present Nocturnal House and the Cat House. This fantastic zoo is especially interested in its breeding programs of the cheetah, white Bengal tigers, black rhinoceros and the western lowland gorilla.
The zoo is presently building a new eight acre African Savannah and when that is completed they will be adding many more animals such as leopards, giraffes, hippos and zebras. You will think you are actually on an African safari. More species of animals will be added as time and money permit. Since this zoo is non-profit, many donations are needed to keep the zoo and its inhabitants in tip top shape.
The short trip form hotel to zoo and back again is but a mere fifteen miles. After spending a long day enjoying the many wild animals found in the zoo, you may want to zip back to your home away from home and partake of some of the features it has to offer you. The children can wind down with a game of basketball, finished up with a dip in the pool, which you may have already been enjoying. Eating at Max & Erma’s Restaurant located in the hotel may be the highlight of the day. They offer many American style meals and, of course, their famous chocolate chip cookie.
While in your room, you may enjoy a little time of television shows while snacking on treats you have deposited in your mini fridge. Perhaps you will want to make popcorn in your microwave oven. Sip a soda, as well, for the remainder of the evening relaxing in your Holiday Inn hotel room.
The main objective for this hotel is to provide you an excellent stay. If you feel at home there, you may well return another time. The next time you wish to visit the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, the Holiday Inn near there could be your best bet.
